Position Overview

HII is seeking Designer 3 professionals to provide engineering and technical design support within the Engineering & Sciences Support organization. The position is based in Newport News, Virginia, and supports engineering design activities on a full-time, first-shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain engineering designs and technical documentation.
• Interpret engineering requirements, specifications, drawings, and related technical information.
• Support design development, revisions, and modifications.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, manufacturing personnel, and other technical teams.
• Prepare and update drawings, layouts, models, and engineering documentation.
• Review designs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable requirements.
• Resolve design issues and incorporate engineering changes.
• Maintain configuration-controlled design documentation.
• Support engineering projects from initial design through production and implementation.
• Communicate technical information effectively with cross-functional teams.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should have strong engineering design and drafting experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical requirements and produce accurate engineering documentation. Experience in a shipbuilding, defense, aerospace, or other complex engineering environment would be valuable.
