Job Duties Include: Prepare project and job packages that include material lists, requisitions, labor estimates, site drawings and construction drawings for various installations of electrical facilities in a cost-effective manner that maximizes safety and service reliability. Candidates should have experience drafting and designer Power Distribution systems that are safe, cost effective and reliable for distribution power facilities that include residential, commercial and industrial projects.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Power Distribution Designer with a growing utility firm. Candidates should have experience drafting and designer Power Distribution systems that are safe, cost effective and reliable for distribution power facilities that include residential, commercial and industrial projects. The role will also work in the field gathering information on sites.

Job Duties Include:

• Prepare project and job packages that include material lists, requisitions, labor estimates, site drawings and construction drawings for various installations of electrical facilities in a cost-effective manner that maximizes safety and service reliability. 
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, change orders, improvement plans, construction specifications, procedure manuals, operational procedures, etc. 
• Perform drafting work and assist in the preparation of designs, plans and reports. 
• Make accurate engineering calculations. 
• Collect and analyze field data and prepare accurate and detailed reports and records. 
• Learn, practice, and promote ALL safety policies and procedures 100% of the time. 
• Apply various codes, requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures to all assigned work to create safe and cost-effective designs for projects of moderate complexity for both overhead and underground projects. 
• Use various design software and work management tools. 
• Evaluate distribution equipment such as transformers and fusing. 
• Follow utility construction practices on public right of way (ROW) and private land. 
• Regularly communicate job status to assure client expectations and deliverable dates are met. 
• Coordinate with construction personnel and clients to resolve any project issues.  
• Develop relationships with key internal and external customers while supporting both company and client’s business goals and expectations while representing themselves both positively and professionally. 
• Maintain files and records in an organized manner. 

Required:

• Associates degree in engineering technology or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 2 plus years of power distribution drafting/design experience.
