The organization is committed to innovation, quality, accountability, and employee development, offering strong career growth opportunities, a merit-based culture, and a collaborative environment focused on delivering exceptional client results.Job DescriptionLead multiple projects during preconstruction phases, managing Design Engineers and Virtual Design team members.Maintain knowledge of applicable codes and standards and ensure compliance with industry best practices.Perform and review load, voltage drop, short circuit, and lighting calculations.Coordinate with project teams and facilitate discussions regarding design decisions.Lead and manage Design Engineers and Virtual Designers to ensure accurate project plans, schedules, and budgets.Manage onboarding and training of new team members; mentor and develop existing staff.Assist in developing best practices and procedures related to code changes and installation practices.Collaborate with architects, engineers, MEP subcontractors, clients, consultants, and project personnel; attend project meetings.Review legal contracts, BIM Execution Plans, scopes of work, specifications, plans, and jurisdictional codes.Develop coordination and installation drawings in accordance with industry best practices.Provide coordination and design documentation for various aspects of projects.Conduct value engineering, peer reviews, and job site coordination.Ensure regional financial performance, quality standards, and compliance objectives are met.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled, protected veterans and all other qualified applicants.The Successful ApplicantA successful Design Manager should have:Ability to produce constructable, code-compliant coordination and design documents for electrical systems, including Temporary Power, Distribution, Underground, Structure, Lighting, Power, Systems, Site, and field coordination.Strong understanding of electrical installation methods and constructability to ensure designs can be efficiently built and executed in the field.Proven knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and familiarity with IBC, IECC, and life safety codes.Comfortable leading meetings and training sessions.Ability to travel as needed.Ability to lead electrical design discussions.Ability to evaluate plans and specifications, assess design-build and bid-build projects, and identify cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities.Proficiency with engineering and virtual design software, including Autodesk Construction Cloud, Collaborate Pro, Autodesk Build, Autodesk Docs, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360 Glue, and related platforms.Strong leadership, management, and technical skills.Extensive knowledge of lighting design, electrical construction, NEC standards, and estimating software applications.Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop team members.Strong organizational, planning, and scheduling skills with the ability to meet deadlines.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS10+ years of relevant electrical engineering, design, or construction experience preferred.Experience supervising engineering, design, or construction personnel within an electrical contracting environment preferred.COMPETENCIES & SKILLSTechnical ExpertiseKnowledge of lighting design, electrical construction, NEC code standards, and estimating software applications.LeadershipAbility to lead, motivate, coach, and develop team members.Project ManagementStrong planning, scheduling, organization, and quality review capabilities.CommunicationExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Interpersonal SkillsAbility to build collaborative relationships, foster teamwork, and effectively manage conflicts.What's on OfferCompetitive salary ranging from $115,000 to $125,000 per year.Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.Permanent position with opportunities for growth.Job SummarySector: Power & EnergySub Sector: Project ManagerIndustry: Energy & Natural ResourcesWhere: RichmondContract Type: Permanent
