    Project / Design Engineer

    Overview

    Seeking a hands-on Project/Design Engineer to lead customer-driven product development projects from concept through production. This role combines engineering design, customer interaction, project management, and manufacturing support to deliver high-quality molded products and engineered solutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and develop plastic products, molded components, foam cushioning systems, and engineered assemblies.
    • Work directly with customers to understand requirements and translate them into manufacturable designs.
    • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Tooling, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams throughout the product development process.
    • Manage projects from concept through testing, validation, launch, and production.
    • Coordinate timelines, resources, material requirements, and project deliverables.
    • Support product testing and validation activities to ensure designs meet performance requirements.
    • Facilitate communication between customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
    • Prepare project updates, technical documentation, and engineering reports.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements, new technologies, and manufacturing enhancements.
    • Provide technical support for capital projects, equipment implementation, and capacity expansion initiatives.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and mentor less-experienced engineering team members.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related discipline.
    • Alternatively, significant hands-on experience in plastics product design and manufacturing may be considered.
    • Experience with plastic processing technologies, ideally rotational molding.
    • Strong CAD modeling skills and familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.
    • Working knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles.
    • Excellent project management, communication, and customer-facing skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
    • Must be eligible to work within ITAR-regulated environments.

    Preferred Experience

    • Product development in industrial, transportation, military/defense, consumer, packaging, automotive
    • Experience working closely with customers on custom-engineered solutions.
    • Background in molded plastics manufacturing and new product introduction.
