Design Engineer/R&D Engineer

JSG is seeking an Design Engineer/ R&D Engineer for a direct hire, onsite position for our medical device client in the greater Simi Valley/Moorpark area. The Design Engineer/ R&D Engineer will oversee design projects managing the design team which consists of employees as well as various consulting firms. Assist with the design and testing of all new products. Work closely with the R&D team to create functional design concepts, test existing designs, and oversee the implementation of development projects. Spearhead the redesign of existing products. 

Responsibilities:
• Meeting with business management, marketing, and the R&D team to discuss product ideas.
• Conducting market research and evaluating similar products and their functions.
• Collaborating with the marketing department on product feasibility.
• Coordinating the redesign of existing products to enhance functionality or reduce costs.
• Creating design projects and specification sheets.
• Presenting product designs to management and stakeholders.
• Overseeing the engineering and testing of product prototypes.
• Testing prototype products for functionality, ease-of-use, and longevity.
• Resolving product issues.
• Overseeing the design transfer process
• Responsible for the design control process for all ongoing projects.
• Staying up to date with new processes and materials in order to incorporate the  latest technology into company products

Requirements and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, biotechnology, or relevant field.
• 3+ years' experience as an R&D engineer.
• Advanced analytical and mathematical skills.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering.
• Design experience preferred.
• Proficient with computer design software including AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Extensive experience with project management. Ability to keep a project moving forward, avoiding ‘mission creep’ while maintaining flexibility to incorporate improvements that may become evident into the plan.
• Experience with team management.
• Ability to balance the benefits of quality, performance, and economy.
• Ability to translate design concepts into physical objects.
• CAD / 3D modeling proficiency.

Salary Range: $95k - 130k DOE
