Design Engineer
Location: New Hudson, Michigan
On?site preferred; hybrid schedule possible based on business needsEmployment Type: Contract, 3–6 months
Start Date: ASAPCompensation: $45–$55 per hour
Position SummaryThe Mid?Level Design Engineer supports vehicle and product system design and development through concept creation, analysis, testing, and documentation. This role works closely with cross?functional teams to deliver robust, well?documented engineering solutions while supporting manufacturing and customer needs.Essential Functions and Skills
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Vehicle and product system design and development
- System physics modeling and characterization
- CAD system and component concept development and packaging
- Application of linear?static Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in design optimization
- Technical drawing generation
- Preparation and presentation of project status reports
- Test design, development, and reporting (DVP&R)
Project Support- Support and resolve customer issues using mechanical, analytical, CAE, and project management skills
- Prepare technical specifications
- Develop testing methods and procedures
- Support manufacturing by responding to questions and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
Additional Requirements- Experience with parametric 3D modeling
- Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Education and Experience- Minimum of 3 years of engineering employment experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
Required Specialized Skills and Knowledge- Creo CAD
- ANSYS / FEA tools
- Windchill Product Lifecycle Management
- Drawing, detailing, and GD&T application
- Creo Cabling/Wiring
- Electrical knowledge
- Full vehicle understanding and system interactions
- Strong technical writing, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
Physical Demands- Ability to support technicians and shop build activities
- Ability to operate simple hand tools as needed
