Our client is seeking an experienced
Design Engineer III to lead the development of advanced electronic hardware and embedded systems supporting mission-critical military and aerospace applications. This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex electrical designs from concept through production while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative, high-reliability solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced electrical and electronic systems for military and aerospace applications.
- Architect complex electronic hardware including circuit card assemblies (CCAs), printed wiring boards (PWBs), embedded electronics, and supporting firmware.
- Develop hardware designs for both new product development and enhancements to existing systems.
- Define and document hardware architectures, interfaces, system requirements, and data input/output specifications.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware and software supporting electronic hardware platforms.
- Perform hardware debugging, validation, troubleshooting, and design verification throughout the product lifecycle.
- Evaluate existing designs and recommend improvements to increase performance, reliability, manufacturability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, manufacturing, quality, and systems engineering teams to ensure successful product development and integration.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers while supporting engineering best practices and design standards.
- Support product integration, qualification testing, and occasional customer or program-related travel as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- An Associate's degree combined with 9+ years of relevant electronic design experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- 6+ years of professional experience designing electronic hardware and embedded systems.
- Extensive experience designing circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and printed wiring boards (PWBs).
- Advanced proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Strong understanding of embedded hardware development and firmware integration.
- Experience with digital communication interfaces and protocols, including:
- UART
- SPI
- I²C
- USB
- TCP/IP
- RS-485
- MIL-STD-1553
- Wi-Fi
- RFID
- IrDA
- Experience performing hardware bring-up, debugging, testing, and validation.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing electronics for military, aerospace, or other high-reliability environments.
- Experience developing embedded firmware.
- Familiarity with encryption or secure communications hardware.
- Previous experience providing technical leadership or mentoring junior engineers.
- Knowledge of military standards and ruggedized electronic system design.
