    Job Overview:

    The Mechanical Engineer engages in compressor design at the Buffalo Technology Center. All Mechanical Engineers are involved with design, tendering, product development, and testing of our equipment at global facilities. Principal responsibilities include high precision gearing design, casing design, and modelling and drafting components for MSG ETO and CTO centrifugal compressors. Mechanical Engineers are expected to have a high degree of tech savvy and continuously stay up to date with the latest industry trends. Extensive analytical and engineering effort is used to assure the mechanical performance of the compressor. The focus of this position is Engineered to Order (ETO) system design.

    Responsibilities:

    • Complete design evaluations that include but not limited to dynamic and static simulation of rotating systems, rotor design, gearing and air end evaluation, bearing behavior and affected component life.
    • The Mechanical Engineer will primarily be responsible for creating and interacting with CAD/CAM models, including drafting and GD&T.
    • The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for product improvement ideations. The Mechanical Engineer will determine relevant testing plans and work collaboratively to implement them in the ETO compressor products.
    • Production Testing & Field Support: Responsible for ensuring the successful mechanical test and field operation of compressors. This will involve global test stand and global field operation support as well as a high degree of root cause diagnostics skills, as well as reviewing supplier quality deviation requests and review of non-conforming materials
    • Tendering Support: In this function, the Mechanical Engineer directly interacts with the Tendering and Design Engineering teams to optimize compressor design to meet customer requirements.
    • Customer interaction: The Mechanical Engineer will have numerous internal and external customers. Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate to a diverse audience and varying technical levels.
    • Work regularly, dependably and independently
    • Ability to travel including internationally up to 10%

    Requirements:

    • BSME/ BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
    • Undergraduate work in mechanical design, vibration, FEA, thermal modelling, dynamics or materials

    Preferences:

    • Computer programming skills is a plus
    • Self-motivated, responsible, clear communication skills.
    • Experience working in a team environment
    • Previous work experience with 3D & 2D CAD/CAM tools (Siemens NX/ Teamcenter is a plus)

    Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:

    • Fully Onsite in Buffalo, NY ability to travel, including internationally, up to 10%

    Pay Range:

    The pay range for this role is Min - 70000 - Max - 90000. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
