Design Engineer 0319 - Aircraft Interior Modification - Solidworks

Our client is involved in the modification of aircraft structures & interiors with ongoing projects is seeking an experienced design engineer for their operations in Kansas

Experience with previous aircraft freighter conversion design work preferred or experience with aircraft primary structures design such as fuselage, cargo door, wing or interiors such as LOPA, Galleys, etc. Proficiency with Solidworks is preferred.

Jobs Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assists to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.

  • Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

  • Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.

  • Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

  • Works under general supervision.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Demonstrates good problem solving skills and critical thinking

  • 4+ years of experience with 3D modeling (Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, SketchUp, Pro-E, Catia, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of standard business software (MS Office Suite)

  • Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences

  • Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development

  • Ability to meet plan delivery deadlines when assigned

  • Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes

  • Familiarity and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.

Responsibilities include the design, development, qualification, and documentation of technical data packages, which are used for modification programs. Additionally, provide engineering support for existing manufactured product through investigation, problem resolution, ECN/EO and drawing revision documentation.
