The City of Philadelphia is the sixth-largest city in the United States and one of the largest employers in Southeastern Pennsylvania.Job DescriptionPosition DescriptionThe Deputy Executive Directors will serve as key members of the administration team, overseeing, through subordinate supervisors and staff, the County Board of Elections and Voter Registration programs. The Deputy Executive Directors will report to the Executive Director of the Board of City Commissioners. The Deputy Executive Directors are responsible for managing, directing, and supervising (through subordinate managers and/or supervisors) the activities of subordinate clerical and technical staff in order to meet election deadlines, conduct voter registration, and hold elections in accordance with federal and state election laws. The Deputy Executive Directors will develop and implement metrics to track the effectiveness, accuracy, and efficiency of civil service staff in performing their duties and report back to the Executive Director regarding these metrics on a regular basis. Each Deputy Executive Director is responsible for their area of specialization.During election times, this position will also require working some non-standard work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.Skills and ExperienceStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain positive working relationships.Ability to work nonstandard hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.Exceptional organizational skills and attention to details.Superior typing and proof-reading skills.Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; high proficiency in Excel.Experience and knowledge of local, state, or federal politics preferred.Ability to lead and handle multiple tasks in a tight timeframe.Must have ability to work independently and in partnership with a team.Excellent self-direction and the ability to take ownership and drive responsibilities through to completion.Must have the ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing and sometimes stressful deadlines.Faith and trust in the electoral process.
