    DEPUTY DIRECTOR of FINANCIAL CONTROL(Permanent)
    Our client, a civic organization in WNY, is looking to hire a Deputy Director of Financial Control to join their growing team.  This is an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, Assistant Controller, and/or Senior Accountant who is a self-starter, has a keen eye for detail, and wants to expand their leadership responsibilities. 

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee daily financial operations/controls to ensure the overall financial stability of the organization
    • Support budget preparation, forecasting, and projection responsibilities by conducting in-depth financial analysis
    • Maintain and manage funds, budgetary controls, chart of accounts, etc.
    • Play a key role in financial audits by preparing schedules and providing necessary financial statements and supporting documentation
    • Oversee reconciliations of financial accounts, applications, and systems
    • Oversee budget reporting, cash management, and cost control activities
    • Analyze current processes, procedures, policies, and financial systems to identify gaps and implement improvements
    • Act as the representative for the finance department when collaborating with other leadership team members to make key financial decisions for the organization
    • Manage and mentor finance and accounting staff members-provide training and guidance when necessary
    • Ensure financial transactions, reports, and documents maintain compliance at all times
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of government accounting standards and emerging regulations
    • Complete special projects in a timely manner
    • Work well in a team environment as well as independently
    • Other duties as assigned/as necessary

     

    Details:

    • Position is full-time, direct hire
    • 100% in-office; standard 40-hour work week
    • Must live in the City of Buffalo or move to the city within 6 months of start date
    • $70,000 - $85,000 annually depending on experience
    • Excellent benefits, PTO, retirement benefits
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting + 2 years Accounting experience; Associate’s degree in Accounting + 4 years Accounting experience
    • Strong understanding of GAAP; governmental accounting is a plus
    • Proficient computer skills, specifically Excel & various financial software
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Excellent analysis and interpretation skills
    • Strong communication and presentation skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Self-motivated
    • Relocation not available
