    Purpose of Position

    Assist the City Clerk with the day-to-day functions of the City Clerk's Office

    Supervision Received

    The immediate supervisor for this position is the City Clerk

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in collection of real and personal property taxes.
    • Assist in processing and collection of privilege license applications.
    • Collect parking ticket, parking permit, and event parking payments.
    • Take in money from other City departments.
    • Post payments and issue receipts.
    • Answer City Clerk's Office phone.
    • Wait on members of the public that come to City Hall.
    • Other miscellaneous administrative duties.

    Qualifications

    • A college degree in Accounting, Business, or related field or prior work experience in Government/Public Sector, Accounting, Banking & Finance, or Bookkeeping is required.
    • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work flow on a daily basis.
    • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions.
    • Must be detail-oriented.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and work well with the public and co-workers.
    • Must be teachable/coachable and be willing to work in a team environment, but also self-motivated and be able to work on certain tasks alone/ without constant supervision when necessary.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc).
    • Must have a clean background check (must be able to be bonded).
    • A valid driver's license is required for this job.

    The Deputy City Clerk works regular hours with some overtime work. 100% of this work is indoors. The stress level is moderate.
