The Deputy Chief of Police – Administration & Compliance serves as the senior leader responsible for departmental governance, compliance, accreditation, administrative operations, and institutional accountability within the Public Safety Department. This position participates in executive command decision-making, strategic planning, organizational leadership, and continuity of operations while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, accreditation standards, institutional policies, and collective bargaining agreements. The Deputy Chief provides executive oversight of records management, policy development, quality assurance, audits, regulatory reporting, budgeting, procurement, personnel administration, and administrative support functions, while serving as a primary advisor to the Chief of Police on administrative risk, compliance, governance, and organizational integrity. The position collaborates closely with university leadership, legal counsel, HR, auditors, accreditation bodies, and external agencies to support institutional objectives and operational effectiveness. The Deputy Chief may serve as Acting Chief of Police when designated and will provide executive oversight of operational functions in the absence of the Deputy Chief of Police – Operations.

When designated by the Chief of Police, the Deputy Chief exercises full executive authority over the department, including operational and administrative functions, subject to applicable law, policy, and institutional governance frameworks.
Dispute Resolution
In matters involving cross-domain responsibilities, unresolved disagreements between Deputy Chiefs shall be elevated to the Chief of Police for final determination.
