Department Safety Advisor

Summary:

• Work Mode: Onsite Mon-Fri 0800-1700
• Must be able to go to various locations—Shuttle System is available
• Conversion to permanent position is possible for the right candidate

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate safety activities with each department on campus
• Work closely with department staff, principal investigators, laboratory supervisors, and managers to ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Monitor activities involving the use of hazardous materials to ensure adherence to policies and procedures
• Provide consultation in the design of experiments and facilities regarding environmental health and safety issues and requirements
• Ensure a safe work environment for administrative departments and facilities management, including fire and life safety, ergonomics, injury prevention, and accident investigations
• Assist in developing programs and completing projects to improve health and safety for the company
• Support the Technical Safety Committee and Safety Officers with the development of policies and procedures and review of use authorizations regarding the safe use of hazardous materials

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in related areas
• Minimum of five years of prior experience working in Environment, Health, and Safety field
• Ability to interact with researchers, facilities management, and project managers regarding federal, state, and local regulations, codes, standards, and ordinances
