Department Manager GM

Position Overview

The Department Manager of General Merchandise oversees store operations, manages staff, and ensures alignment with financial and marketing goals. They coordinate sales promotions, assist customers, and promote a positive shopping experience. The role requires strong knowledge of retail systems, industry trends, and competitive landscape to drive sales and control expenses. The manager partners with various departments and supports company initiatives, ensuring policy compliance and embodying core values such as integrity, accountability, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate staff, including hiring and training.
• Manage RTV processes and assist customers with product selection.
• Coordinate special orders and foster a customer-centric culture.
• Build partnerships for promotions and off-site events.
• Conduct daily store walkthroughs to monitor stock, inventory, and service levels.
• Oversee merchandise displays, execute pricing strategies, and analyze financial reports.
• Maintain website accuracy and fulfillment.
• Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues.
• Potentially manage store operations in the absence of the Store Manager or supervise other departments.
• Perform opening/closing duties and additional tasks as assigned.
