Department Lead – Mechanical / Industrial AssemblyWe are currently seeking an experienced Department Lead with a strong mechanical and industrial equipment background to oversee the daily operations of our client’s in-house assembly department located in Anderson, SC.
This is a hands-on working supervisor role for someone who enjoys building, troubleshooting, and leading a team. The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial equipment, mechanical assembly, fabrication, blueprints, pneumatics, and electromechanical systems, along with the ability to guide a team and keep projects on schedule.

Responsibilities- Lead and actively participate in the assembly and fabrication of industrial equipment and machinery.
- Read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and layouts.
- Perform mechanical troubleshooting and help diagnose electromechanical and pneumatic issues.
- Verify mechanical and electrical components are assembled according to specifications.
- Conduct inspections and final testing to ensure equipment meets quality and customer requirements.
- Identify and resolve assembly, mechanical, and equipment issues during production.
- Coordinate daily workflows and assign work to assemblers and technicians.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance and training to team members.
- Mentor junior technicians and help develop team members' mechanical skills.
- Ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and according to established procedures.
- Monitor projects from fabrication and assembly through final testing and customer handover.
- Track schedules, materials, tooling, and project progress.
- Work with purchasing and other departments to ensure materials are available when needed.
- Help prevent project delays and identify potential issues before they impact production.
- Enforce OSHA requirements, company safety procedures, and proper PPE use.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Ensure completed equipment meets required mechanical, electrical, and quality standards before leaving the facility.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial equipment manufacturing, mechanical assembly, fabrication, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Strong hands-on mechanical experience with industrial equipment.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and electromechanical systems.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial machinery and equipment.
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
