    Bilingual Dental Treatment Coordinator

    Location: East Baltimore, Maryland

    Job Type: Full-Time

    Compensation

    • $30-$35.00 per hour target compensation plus bonus
    • Compensation flexibility available for highly qualified candidates based on experience

    Schedule

    • Monday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
    • Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
    • Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

    Position Summary

    We are seeking an experienced, highly personable Bilingual Dental Treatment Coordinator to join a busy and established dental practice in East Baltimore, Maryland.

    This is an important patient-facing position for someone who excels at building relationships, explaining treatment, discussing finances and insurance benefits, and helping patients move forward with recommended care.

    Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.

    The ideal candidate is confident communicating with patients from a wide variety of backgrounds and understands how to make complex treatment and financial information easy to understand. We are looking for someone who can build trust with patients while also providing the consistent follow-up necessary to improve treatment acceptance and completion.

    About the Practice

    This is a busy, established dental practice serving a diverse patient population throughout East Baltimore and the surrounding communities.

    The practice has historically generated more than $4 million in annual revenue and maintains a significant existing patient base. Approximately 50% of patients utilize Medicaid, making experience with insurance benefits, patient financial conversations, treatment coordination, and consistent follow-up especially valuable.

    The practice uses the traditional desktop version of Dentrix and has a large clinical and administrative team supporting patient care.

    Key Responsibilities

    Treatment Presentation & Case Acceptance

    • Meet with patients following diagnosis to review recommended treatment plans
    • Present treatment in a clear, organized, and patient-friendly manner
    • Help patients understand the importance and sequencing of recommended care
    • Explain treatment costs, insurance estimates, patient portions, and available financial arrangements
    • Collect required deposits and financial commitments prior to treatment
    • Schedule accepted treatment and ensure patients understand their next steps
    • Follow up consistently with patients who have not yet scheduled recommended care
    • Maintain accurate records of treatment discussions and patient decisions

    Bilingual Patient Communication

    • Communicate fluently and professionally with patients in both English and Spanish
    • Help Spanish-speaking patients fully understand their treatment recommendations, insurance benefits, financial responsibilities, and scheduling options
    • Build strong relationships with patients and families through empathy, trust, and consistent communication
    • Serve as a resource for patients who may need additional assistance navigating their dental care

    Insurance & Financial Coordination

    • Review and explain dental insurance benefits
    • Provide patients with estimated insurance coverage and out-of-pocket responsibilities
    • Maintain a working knowledge of Medicaid and traditional dental insurance processes
    • Answer patient questions regarding coverage and financial expectations
    • Coordinate with billing and insurance team members when additional information is required
    • Ensure appropriate deposits and patient portions are collected
    • Document treatment and financial arrangements accurately in Dentrix

    Scheduling & Patient Follow-Up

    • Schedule treatment appropriately based on provider availability and clinical sequencing
    • Maintain organized follow-up systems for outstanding treatment
    • Re-engage patients with unscheduled or incomplete treatment plans
    • Help minimize gaps in provider schedules by maintaining consistent communication with patients
    • Coordinate closely with doctors, hygienists, assistants, and front office team members
    • Ensure smooth handoffs between the clinical and administrative sides of the practice

    Qualifications

    • Fluent bilingual English/Spanish communication skills required
    • Previous dental treatment coordination or dental front office experience strongly preferred
    • Strong understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and treatment planning
    • Comfortable discussing treatment costs and financial responsibilities with patients
    • Knowledge of dental insurance benefits and verification
    • Strong patient relationship-building and communication skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to confidently follow up with patients regarding outstanding treatment
    • Reliable, professional, and accountable
    • Comfortable working in a busy, high-volume dental environment

    Preferred Experience

    • Previous Dental Treatment Coordinator experience
    • Dentrix experience, particularly the traditional desktop version
    • Experience working with Medicaid and PPO dental insurance
    • Experience presenting comprehensive treatment plans
    • Experience discussing financing and collecting treatment deposits
    • Proven ability to improve treatment acceptance and patient follow-through
    • Previous dental assisting experience is a plus due to the clinical knowledge it can bring to treatment discussions
