General Purpose

Under the supervision of the Dental Supervisor, the Dental Sterilization Technician is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and organizing dental instruments and equipment to ensure treatment rooms are fully prepared and patient care runs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Assemble, wrap, and prepare instrument trays for clinical use
• Monitor sterilization equipment and maintain accurate sterilization and spore testing logs
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of sterilization areas and treatment rooms
• Restock supplies and assist with inventory management
• Assist with patient flow by greeting, seating, and dismissing patients as needed
• Follow OSHA, infection control, and safety protocols
• Track instruments through sterilization systems and report equipment or supply issues
• Participate in team meetings, training, and quality improvement activities
• Support dental providers and clinic staff as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Dental Practice Act/Law & Ethics course completion required
• OSHA/Infection Control certification required
• Current CPR certification required
• Knowledge of dental sterilization processes preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment

Work Environment

Clinic setting requiring standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, and working around dental equipment and potential exposure to infectious materials.
