San Diego, CA
Build ocular and facial prostheses that give patients their faces back – in America’s Finest City.
The Community
San Diego pairs 70 miles of coastline with near-perfect weather all year. Spend weekends surfing La Jolla and Pacific Beach, hiking Torrey Pines or Cowles Mountain, or exploring Balboa Park’s 1,200 acres of museums, gardens and the San Diego Zoo. Neighborhoods like Little Italy, North Park and the Gaslamp Quarter bring a deep food and craft-beer scene, Petco Park hosts the Padres, and the city’s strong military community makes newcomers feel at home fast. Mountains, desert and wine country are all within a short drive.
The Facility
Naval Medical Center San Diego – known locally as “Balboa” – is the Navy’s flagship hospital on the West Coast, set on a hillside campus beside Balboa Park. Its Hospital Dentistry service supports complex restorative and maxillofacial care for service members and their families, working hand in hand with prosthodontists and surgeons on cases most dental laboratories never see.
