    Description

    NEEDED: REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST

    LOCATION: Lexington, Kentucky 40511

    SCHEDULE / HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Shall possess a current, active, unrestricted license authorizing practice as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the State of Kentucky or compact state.
    • Must be able to pass a drug screening and law enforcement agency background check.
    • Must hold and maintain current CPR/BLS certification acceptable to the Government throughout the period of performance.
    • Must provide copies of license, CPR/BLS certification, and other required documentation.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    •  Review relevant medical and dental history and identify information requiring dentist or other clinical review before treatment.
    • Provide dental prophylaxis for AICs referred or scheduled by Dental Clinic staff.
    • Provide individualized oral hygiene instruction and patient education appropriate to the patient's oral condition and treatment needs.
    • Assess, monitor, and document oral hygiene and periodontal condition within the Dental Hygienist's authorized scope of practice.
    • Obtain diagnostic-quality dental radiographs as ordered or authorized by the dentist and ensure images are properly associated with the patient's record.
    • Document services, findings, patient education, radiographs, and other required information accurately and timely in Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
    • Prepare the operatory and instruments for hygiene services.
    • Assist with patient scheduling, recall/prophylaxis tracking, record review, and other administrative activities directly related to delivery of dental hygiene services.
    • Communicate significant clinical findings, changes in patient condition, urgent dental needs, or treatment concerns promptly to the dentist or other appropriate BOP clinical staff.
    • Perform periodontal assessment and nonsurgical periodontal therapy within the Dental Hygienist’s authorized scope of practice, including periodontal charting, scaling, root planning, removal of calculus deposits, and removal of accumulated accretions from beneath the free gingival margin.
    • Provide other preventive and nonsurgical dental hygiene services that are permitted by Kentucky law and supported by the Dental Hygienist’s education, training, competency, and credentials.
    • Follow standard precautions and use required personal protective equipment.
    • Perform operatory disinfection and instrument processing/sterilization associated with services provided and other assigned dental instruments.
    • Maintain security and accountability of instruments and sharps used during treatment and immediately report discrepancies.
    • Dispose of sharps and contaminated waste in designated containers and follow instit utional exposure-control procedures.
    • Report occupational exposures immediately and follow applicable institutional exposure and post-exposure procedures.
    • Maintain applicable Safety Data Sheets (SDS), hazardous-material information, and infection-prevention documentation assigned to the Dental Clinic
