    Position Summary

    We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to provide high-quality preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene services. The ideal candidate will support the dental care team by performing patient assessments, delivering preventive oral healthcare, educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation while ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and protocols.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform comprehensive dental hygiene assessments and review patients' medical and dental histories.
    • Conduct oral prophylaxis, periodontal screenings, scaling, root planing, and other authorized dental hygiene procedures.
    • Obtain and process diagnostic dental radiographs in accordance with established safety standards.
    • Assess oral health conditions and report significant findings to the supervising dentist.
    • Provide patient education regarding oral hygiene, preventive dental care, periodontal health, nutrition, and post-treatment care.
    • Apply preventive agents and treatments, including fluoride and dental sealants, as permitted by state law and facility protocols.
    • Assist the dentist with patient care and treatment procedures when needed.
    • Document all patient assessments, treatments, procedures, and education accurately in the appropriate electronic health record.
    • Maintain proper infection prevention and control practices, including sterilization and disinfection of instruments and clinical areas.
    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, facility policies, and applicable federal, state, and professional regulations.
    • Maintain dental instruments, equipment, supplies, and treatment areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
    • Collaborate effectively with dentists, dental assistants, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.

    Required Qualifications

    • Active and unrestricted Dental Hygienist license in the applicable state.
    • Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Knowledge of dental hygiene principles, periodontal care, preventive dentistry, and infection control procedures.
    • Ability to obtain and interpret dental radiographs, as permitted by applicable regulations.
    • Strong patient assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience with electronic dental or health record systems preferred.
    • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary dental team.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing safe, patient-centered care.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous experience in a clinical, community health, government, or similar healthcare setting.
    • Experience working with diverse patient populations.
    • Familiarity with dental practice management systems and electronic health records.
