Sigma Systems is seeking a licensed Dental Hygienist to work onsite at the Henry M. Client School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. This short-term contract role supports preventive, clinical, and educational oral healthcare services in an academic dental setting.
The ideal candidate is patient-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced in providing high-quality dental hygiene care while adhering to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
Serve as a Dental Hygienist providing preventive oral healthcare services
Deliver patient education on oral hygiene, home care, and treatment plans
Perform clinical dental hygiene services, including:
Dental cleanings
Scaling and root planing (with local anesthesia)
Fluoride treatments and therapeutic agents
Exposing and processing dental radiographs
Conduct oral cancer screenings, periodontal assessments, and charting
Review and update patient medical histories; identify contraindications and request medical clearance when needed
Set up and break down operatories and treatment bays before and after patient visits
Inspect, sterilize, and disinfect dental instruments and operatories
Follow OSHA standards, universal precautions, and bloodborne pathogen protocols
Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
Support infection control and sterilization workflows
Vocational, Technical, or Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene
1–3 years of relevant Dental Hygienist experience
Active Massachusetts Dental Hygienist license
Ability to maintain current licensure and certification throughout the assignment
Candidates must provide proof of immunity or documentation for the following:
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Vaccine #1 & #2 dates or titers
Hepatitis B:
Vaccine #1, #2, and #3 dates and
Hepatitis B Surface Antibody titer indicating immunity, or
Signed declination or lab results indicating disease history
Varicella (Chickenpox): Vaccine #1 & #2 dates, provider documentation of disease, or titer
Tdap (Adacel): Given since 2005
Tuberculosis (TB) Test:
Annual TB skin test (TST)
Documentation must include date administered, date read, and millimeter (mm) induration
Strong knowledge of preventive dentistry and oral health education
Proficiency in scaling, root planing, and periodontal charting
Experience with radiographs and dental instruments
Excellent patient communication and education skills
Strict adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards
Ability to work efficiently in a clinical and academic environment
