Dental Hygiene Coordinator
About the Role Our busy and growing dental practice is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Hygiene Coordinator to join our front desk team
. In this role, you will play a key part in patient retention by managing hygiene schedules, handling outbound reactivation calls, and ensuring optimal provider utilization for checkups, routine hygiene care, and periodontal services
.
Pay Rate: $22.00 – $27.00 / hour
Bonus Structure: Opportunities to earn monthly production/collection bonuses and performance-based incentives
Job Type: Full-time, In-Office
Schedule:
Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
Hygiene Scheduling & Patient Retention
Manage hygiene schedules to achieve daily utilization goals through efficient appointment coordination
.
Execute outbound call lists to contact due and overdue hygiene/perio patients and re-engage patients who have fallen out of care
.
Handle incoming calls, schedule routine exams and hygiene appointments, and promptly follow up on missed appointments
.
Front Office Operations & Patient Service
Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries, gathering accurate demographics, and updating financial information
.
Analyze operational metrics and schedule reports to track utilization and optimize open appointment slots
.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality, and safety guidelines
.
Key Performance Metrics
Complete full outreach on all assigned prophy and periodontal recall lists
.
Maintain a patient retention rate of 80% or higher
.
Keep hygiene appointment cancellation rates below 15%
.
Achieve 90%–100% hygiene schedule capacity
.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required:
2+ years of experience in the dental field
.
Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
.
Basic computer proficiency and essential arithmetic skills
.
Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds
.
Preferred:
Working knowledge of dental terminology, hygiene procedures, and periodontal care
.
Experience with dental practice management software, preferably Open Dental
.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
.
