    Job Description

    The Dental Assistant I supports dentists and dental hygienists by preparing patients, treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for dental procedures. This role assists with patient care, takes dental radiographs, maintains equipment and supplies, and helps ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for patients of all ages.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, materials, and equipment for dental procedures.

    • Assist dentists and dental hygienists during patient care, including passing instruments and preparing restorative materials.

    • Welcome, prepare, and position patients for treatment, including obtaining vital signs when needed.

    • Take digital dental radiographs in accordance with departmental policies and complete annual radiology competencies.

    • Clean treatment rooms, maintain infection prevention standards, and prepare instruments for sterilization.

    • Assist with dental impressions and digital scans under the supervision of a dentist.

    • Maintain dental supplies, equipment, and workstation inventory.

    • Accurately document charges and utilize electronic systems to support daily operations.

    • Promote quality patient care, safety, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

    Minimum Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Strong verbal communication skills.

    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to maintain certification as a condition of employment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • One year of chairside dental assisting experience.

    • Graduation from a Dental Assistant training program or at least two years of on-the-job dental assisting experience.
