Position Summary
If you enjoy training new employees, you'll love sharing your Dental Assisting knowledge and clinical skills! Pima Medical Institute is seeking an engaging Part-Time Dental Assistant Instructor (24 hours/week) to join our Houston campus faculty team.
In this key instructional role, you will deliver morning and afternoon lectures and hands-on lab sessions to ensure compliance with program regulatory instructor-to-student ratios . You will instruct adult learners in four-handed and six-handed dentistry principles, chairside procedures, dental radiography, and lab safety protocols while preparing them for successful dental assisting careers.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery & Chairside Labs:
Lesson Delivery: Design and deliver engaging lesson plans utilizing diverse teaching techniques to accommodate various learning styles and student needs.
Clinical & Didactic Training: Instruct students in didactic concepts and hands-on chairside labs, demonstrating four-handed and six-handed dentistry techniques, infection control, and equipment operation.
Ratio & Lab Supervision: Serve as a morning and afternoon instructor to maintain required regulatory instructor-to-student ratios across classroom and lab settings .
Evaluation & Feedback: Grade classwork, practical lab assessments, and assignments within 72 hours, providing constructive feedback.
Student Mentorship & Program Support:
Academic Advising: Maintain regularly scheduled face-to-face office hours to advise students, support academic progress, and address behavioral concerns promptly.
Externship & Community Outreach: Supervise student externship experiences, coordinate guest speakers, and arrange clinic and dental office visits.
Curriculum & Facilities: Periodically evaluate facilities and equipment regarding modern dental assisting concepts, recommending course material updates through established channels.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Training:
Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program recognized by USDE or CHEA (or equivalent recognized hospital/international program); OR
Minimum of three (3) years of job-related training and experience in dental assisting for non-graduates.
Occupational Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of practical, occupational experience in dental assisting.
Licensure & Credentials:
Nationally Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), or Licensed Dentist (Dentists exempt from CDA/RDA credential).
Active Texas state registration/credential required by law to work as a Dental Assistant.
Clinical Competency: Proficient in didactic and clinical four-handed and six-handed dentistry principles and aware of Texas state regulatory requirements governing dental assisting.
Technical Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace.
Compensation & Part-Time Benefits
Hiring Range: $20.80 to $24.96 per hour.
Schedule: Part-Time (24 hours per week).

Pima Medical Institute started changing lives in 1972 when Richard Luebke Sr. and his wife, JoAnn, brought to life their dream of providing quality medical career education. They opened the first campus in Tucson, Arizona, preparing students to become nursing assistants. Eventually Richard Luebke Jr. and Mark Luebke took the helm, introducing more programs and opening additional campus locations to meet the country’s growing demand for quality healthcare professionals.
