Description & Duties
Assist dentist during patient examinations and clinical treatment procedures.
Record and review patient medical and dental histories.
Ensure treatment notes, clinical charts, and rendered service charges are accurately documented.
Prepare, clean, and stock dental operatories for exams and procedures.
Monitor clinical inventory and assist with ordering dental supplies as needed.
Expose and process dental radiographs as directed by the dentist.
Maintain patient records securely in compliance with state, federal, and HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
Apply proper infection control protocols for cleaning, sterilizing, and handling instruments. Conduct, log, and report routine spore testing.
Coordinate, send, and track dental laboratory cases, as well as patient referrals to and from specialists.
Assist in managing patient recall systems and scheduling.
Execute preventive maintenance and cleaning schedules for dental equipment.
Participate in quality management activities to maintain compliance with JCAHO guidelines and clinical quality benchmarks.
Provide administrative support to the front office when needed, including answering phones, unpacking shipments, and assisting with insurance forms.
