The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Demolition Expert with strong construction management and cost estimating skills to support demolition and site preparation projects from pre-construction through closeout. The ideal candidate will have hands-on demolition experience, the ability to develop accurate material takeoffs, and expertise in estimating costs associated with concrete, scrap metal, and demolition debris removal, hauling, recycling, and disposal. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage field operations, coordinate subcontractors and vendors, prepare bids and estimates, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

Essential Job Functions:
Lead and oversee demolition projects from planning through completion.
Perform detailed construction management duties, including scheduling, coordination, progress tracking, and jobsite oversight.
Prepare accurate cost estimates for demolition projects, including labor, equipment, hauling, disposal, recycling, permits, and overhead.
Develop material takeoffs for:
Concrete demolition and removal.
Scrap metal recovery and salvage.
Demolition debris sorting, hauling, recycling, and disposal.
Review project plans, site conditions, and specifications to determine scope of work.
Conduct site walks and assess structural, environmental, and safety considerations.
Coordinate with general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, haulers, recyclers, and disposal facilities.
Identify salvageable materials and opportunities to reduce disposal costs.
Estimate quantities, production rates, equipment needs, and project durations.
Prepare bid proposals, scopes of work, and cost breakdowns for clients and internal teams.
Monitor job costs against estimates and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain accurate documentation, daily reports, change orders, and project records.
Support project closeout, final billing, and reconciliation of quantities and costs.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in demolition, construction management, or a related heavy civil/construction field.
Strong knowledge of demolition methods, equipment, means and methods, and site safety practices.
Experience preparing estimates and material takeoffs for demolition-related work.
Familiarity with concrete demolition, scrap recovery, debris hauling, recycling, and landfill disposal processes.
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and project documents.
Strong understanding of labor productivity, equipment rates, and unit pricing.
Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and construction project management tools.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with commercial, industrial, institutional, or heavy civil demolition projects.
Knowledge of selective demolition, structural demolition, and site clearing.
Experience negotiating with subcontractors, haulers, recyclers, and disposal vendors.
Familiarity with hazardous material awareness and abatement coordination.
Certifications such as OSHA, HAZWOPER, or other relevant safety credentials.
Physical Requirements:
The candidate should be comfortable working on active demolition sites, traveling to project locations, and adjusting to changing project conditions and deadlines
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Must be able to walk across variable terrain. This includes uneven and steep ground, in all weather conditions (hot/cold temperatures, noise levels, etc.). Remain in a stationary position, walking, lifting, bending for extended periods of time for field work.
Ability to travel as needed.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
This position may require time in both office and field settings.
Field work/oversight will include work to be performed outside as a result may include frequent work in various environmental factors (weather, terrain, noise, etc.). This can include remaining stationary for long periods of time, walking, bending, lifting, and sitting for field activities.
Office work will include periods sitting or standing at a desk, using a computer, and other office equipment.
Additional Information:
Part-time temporary position, no scheduled hours. Hours will vary based on project/client needs.
Work will be performed primarily in a field setting and occasionally an office setting.
