The XR team is on a transformative journey, shaping the future of computing and its profound impact on how people live, work, and connect. A critical component of this mission is the effective showcasing of the transformative power of XR to a diverse global audience, including internal executives, key external partners, developers and customers at high-profile industry events, experience centers, partner sites, etc. via complex, technical demonstrations.
In 2025, we need a dedicated team of highly skilled Demo Engineers. This team will deliver comprehensive demo engineering, demo delivery and support services to the XR Demo Lead and the broader XR team, ensuring the compelling, high-quality presentation of our cutting-edge Android XR hardware and software.
Services & Deliverables
The Demo Engineers who will be responsible for the full lifecycle of Android XR product demonstration support. This team will act as hands-on experts, ensuring seamless setup, demo delivery, operations, and troubleshooting of XR devices in various environments.
The services to be performed by the Provider's team include:
Demo Delivery:- Demo guide responsible for presenting the demo experience via compelling storytelling and narrative, clearly communicating use cases and value proposition.
- Provides step-by-step instruction and guidance for how to operate the device and demo experiences
- Clear and effective communications, presentation skills and strong business acumen
- Ability to confidently engage with executive level audiences
Technical Setup & Configuration:- Setting up and configuring Android XR headsets and associated hardware.
- Loading and flashing the latest software builds onto demo devices.
- Ensuring all demo environments are optimized for performance and presentation quality.
Real-time Troubleshooting & Support:- Proactively identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues with XR hardware, software, Wi-Fi, and networking before and during live demonstrations.
- Understanding and implementing workarounds for known technical challenges unique to our client's devices.
- Providing immediate technical assistance during high-stakes demos to maintain a smooth user experience.
Software Management & Maintenance:- Maintaining demo devices with the latest software versions and necessary applications.
- Performing regular checks and updates to ensure demo readiness.
Collaboration & Communication:- Working closely with the XR Demo Lead, engineering, and product teams to understand new features, hardware, and specific demo requirements.
- Clearly communicating technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical team members.
Operational Support:- Contributing to the organization and maintenance of demo equipment inventory.
- Supporting the development and refinement of demo processes and troubleshooting guides.
Travel & Adaptability:- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, often with very short notice, to support key events, conferences, and partner engagements.
- Adapting quickly to diverse demo environments and unexpected technical challenges.
Demo Engineer- Location: San Jose (International Travel)
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a hands-on technical role, involving device setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to demo and explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level audiences
- Strong business acumen
- Proven ability to flash Android builds and sideload applications.
- Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting Wi-Fi and general networking issues.
- Experience using the Linux/Mac command line
- interface (CLI) for device management and scripting.
- Familiarity with the latest technical challenges of XR devices and knowledge of common workarounds.
- Ability to travel internationally, sometimes with very short notice.
- Able to work on-site in San Jose
Preferred Qualifications (team-wide capabilities):- Passion for Extended Reality (XR) technologies and a desire for continuous learning.
- Direct experience with XR/VR/AR/MR hardware and software setup will be a plus.
- Experience presenting and providing technical support in a live demonstration or event environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues clearly.
- Experience working within a fast-paced, dynamic technology environment.
