This job is a contract role responsible for leading execution of internal and external communications surrounding Delta Dental of California and affiliates innovation work, which operates under the Emerge brand. The role will drive tactics to promote and protect Delta Dentals brand and reputation across multiple stakeholder audiences both in connection to Emerge and the company's broader work. Specifically, this role will partner with our Director of Corporate Communications, Corporate Communications Senior Consultant, Senior Managers of Executive and Internal Communications, and a broader Enterprise team to effectively communicate and contextualize Emerge, ensuring that the work is recognized by stakeholders as a substantive step forward in both Delta Dentals transformation and oral health care at large. Half of the contractors time will also be devoted to other initiatives underway across the Corporate, Internal & Executive Communications teams, including thought partnership support for Delta Dentals Executive Leadership Team (ELT), employee communications, and external-facing corporate communications initiatives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Serves as the communications execution lead for Emerge, partnering closely with the Director and Senior Director of Corporate Communications as well as the Executive & Internal Communications points on the project. Responsibilities associated include owning day-to-day external and internal communications project management, oversight of deliverables, and attendance and report-outs for all project meetings.
- Supports execution of communications tactics that ensure accurate and favorable reception of the Innovation Engine, including reactive engagement with media.
- Closely monitors the media and stakeholder landscape and builds strong relationships alongside agency partners to help cultivate positive media coverage and thought leadership opportunities related to Emerge and other initiatives/focus areas.
- Identifies, monitors, and makes recommendations regarding how to address reputational opportunities and risks especially among critical stakeholder groups such as providers.
- Works closely with Executive & Internal Communications teams to develop holistic internal communications strategy, execute that strategy and distribute communications and messaging related to the Emerge (and other initiatives) to internal stakeholders.
- Develops strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to identify and support employee communications needs related to Emerge (for example, collaborating to provide approved messaging to accompany high-profile announcements, project milestones, media cycles, etc.)
- Drives drafting and approval of business-critical communications materials often on a short deadline to ensure timely, accurate, and effective response to executive requests, media inquiries or other stakeholder needs.
- Supports additional Corporate, Executive & Internal Communications team needs as capacity allows.
