Delivery Driver

Position Summary

We are seeking dependable, safety-focused, and highly responsive Delivery Drivers to operate company vehicles and provide delivery and pickup services for DC Public Schools (DCPS) throughout Washington, DC. The driver will be responsible for transporting supplies, materials, and equipment between warehouses and school facilities while maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism, and reliability. The ideal candidate must be flexible and able to respond quickly to schedule changes or urgent delivery needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles (e.g., cargo vans, box trucks, or similar delivery vehicles) throughout Washington, DC.
• Deliver and pick up supplies, materials, equipment, and other items from DCPS schools, offices, and facilities.
• Follow assigned delivery routes, schedules, and dispatch instructions to ensure timely service.
• Load and unload materials and ensure all items are secured properly to prevent damage during transport.
• Verify delivery items against manifests, packing lists, or instructions before departure and upon delivery.
• Obtain signatures or delivery confirmations when required.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections (pre-trip and post-trip) and report any safety issues, damage, or maintenance needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-maintained vehicle at all times.
• Follow all local traffic laws, company safety policies, and DC regulations while operating the vehicle.
• Maintain professional communication and courteous interactions with school administrators, staff, and facility personnel.
• Assist with basic inventory handling or warehouse support tasks when required.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license (CDL may be required depending on the vehicle type).
• Clean driving record with no major violations.
• Previous experience in delivery driving, logistics, or transportation preferred.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Highly flexible, responsive, and able to adapt quickly to changing schedules or delivery priorities.
• Strong attention to safety and ability to operate vehicles responsibly in an urban environment.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
• Basic ability to complete delivery logs, reports, or electronic delivery confirmations.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Frequent driving throughout Washington, DC.
• Regular lifting, loading, and unloading of materials.
• Work may require standing, bending, and carrying items during deliveries.
• Interaction with school staff, administrators, and facility personnel.
