    CDL drivers transport goods between locations using tractor trailers and truck-mounted knuckle-boom cranes. They often travel extensive distances to deliver their loads and must adhere to traffic and safety regulations while still making deliveries on time. Drivers must hold a commercial driver's license and maintain their medical certification as required. CDL drivers must be comfortable operating heavy machinery and must have the hand-eye coordination to do so safely. They are also legally required to have strong eyesight, hearing, and overall physical fitness.

    Essential Functions

    • Loading, unloading, and securing equipment for transport
    • Local and regional hauling of equipment
    • Perform daily commercial vehicle inspections to ensure operational safety
    • Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries
    • Obtain required signatures on rental contracts, pickups, and exchange forms
    • Demonstrate safe and proper equipment usage at point of delivery
    • Complete reports for outgoing and returned equipment
    • Complete logbooks and trip sheets in accordance with D.O.T. and company record-keeping requirements
    • Assist in the warehouse and yard when not driving

    Required Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
    • Valid Class A driver's license; current medical certification required
    • 2+ years of proven tractor-trailer driving experience preferred
    • Clean driving record with no moving violations
    • Must pass a background check and drug test
    • Skilled in operating large vehicles safely
    • Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
    • Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
    • Physically and mentally fit

    Military service will be considered in lieu of education/certification experience as applicable.

    Work Environment

    • Work is primarily conducted on construction sites, equipment yards, and transportation routes
    • Regular exposure to heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment
    • Frequent outdoor work in heat, cold, rain, and wind
    • Physically demanding environments with uneven terrain, dust, mud, and loud noise levels
    • May involve shop tasks and fieldwork, including remote job site travel
    • Strict adherence to safety protocols required at all times
    • PPE such as steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection must be used as required
    • Must be comfortable working around large equipment, in confined spaces, or at elevated positions
    • Often requires lifting heavy components and materials
    • Flexibility and adaptability are essential as job requirements change frequently

    Travel Required

    • Local travel required daily to job sites

    Physical Demands

    • Requires a high level of physical stamina and mobility
    • Frequent lifting, carrying, and maneuvering tools, chains, tarps, and equipment weighing 50+ pounds
    • Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
    • Prolonged standing, walking, and working on uneven terrain such as gravel, dirt, or pavement
    • Climbing in/out of trucks, trailers, and occasionally equipment is required
    • Must maintain balance while working from heights, ladders, or elevated platforms
    • Fine motor skills and dexterity required for tie-downs, controls, and documentation
    • Must safely operate commercial vehicles and remain alert in hazardous conditions
    • Occasional pushing, pulling, and positioning of heavy materials
