The technician will be responsible for assisting with the following: capture of adult and juvenile white-tailed deer using various techniques, immobilization of captured animals, monitoring of animals via radio telemetry, and investigating related mortality events. The applicant will also assist in data collection and management. Further, the candidate will interact with state agency personnel and private landowners while working on various aspects of the project
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
Completed bachelors degree, deer capture experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
B.S. in Wildlife Management, Wildlife Ecology, Ecology, Biology, or a closely related field. Working knowledge of radio-telemetry and GPS technologies. Importantly, the candidate should be able to work and live with team members and maintain positive attitudes during long hours of fieldwork. Successful applicants will be detail oriented when collecting data, capable of maintaining organized field equipment, level-headed in potentially stressful situations (live animal handling), and able to work odd or long hours while maintaining a good work ethic. Applicants should be able to take direction and follow field protocols accurately. If hired, applicants will need to communicate with private landowners, and so being able to represent the project in a professional and friendly manner is important.

Driving 4-wheel drive vehicles, lift up to 50 pounds, office work.
