Deep Canvass Contractors Sought

Overview: TakeAction Minnesota is seeking independent contractors for an innovative door to door deep canvass project in southern Minnesota to fight rising authoritarianism. Deep canvassers can drive (reimbursed) from the Twin Cities Metro to southern Minnesota for this project. Access to a car is not required, though helpful. 

The project:  Metro Surge underscored the rising authoritarianism in America: Masked armed men without badges grabbing our neighbors and disappearing them into a network of prisons around the country. There must be electoral accountability for the politicians who funded and supported this, the billionaire takeover, the war in Iran and more. We are deep canvassing in southern Minnesota around the cost of living crisis to dig in with voters on these issues. Deep canvassing is a tested conversation structure where we share stories and build on mutual values to act together to create change. Paid canvassers are augmenting a volunteer effort. Canvassers come from across southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities Metro area.

Experience: Successful candidates will have experience with deep canvassing, a willingness to talk in-depth with people who are not politically aligned with them, willing to endure outside work, and independently motivated to set their hours and have as many conversations as possible. 

Compensation/structure: Canvassers are compensated at $40/hour as independent contractors. Contractors can work 20-40 hours per week as they are available. Canvassers that utilize their own vehicles (versus riding with others) are reimbursed at a rate of $0.76/mile. This position lasts through 09/30/2026 with a likelihood of extending to 11/15/2026.
