Staff are required to communicate with students and families, clearly explaining expectations, lesson objectives, and outcomes. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: All staff must: Maintain a safe environment for all participants and staffKnow and enforce all program policies and rulesFollow established emergency proceduresRespond effectively in an emergency situationMaintain current required certificationsInspect pool area for cleanliness, safety hazards, and unsafe conditionsMaintain a professional appearance while on dutyArrive on time in proper uniformParticipate in in-service training and staff development Deck Manager is responsible for: Open/close the pool before and after swim lessonsCollect time cards on a bi-weekly basis to be turned in to the Aquatics CoordinatorWork with staff to implement swim lessons during sessionComplete and maintain Red Cross WSI, LG, and LGI certificationsAssist the Aquatics Coordinator with swim lesson schedulesSchedule swim staff for seasonal lessons and any changes needed due to registration or staff call-outsHold regular staff meetings and in-serviceHelp meet grant deliverables and program goals as outlined by the CEE Program Director Deck Manager will share the following responsibilities with the Swim Coordinator: Recruit, interview and hire swim staff in conjunction with Program DirectorPromote all aquatics programsMonitor staff certifications and program equipment needsUpdate and maintain swim staff handbook and emergency action plan following safety rules and regulationsCreate and maintain lesson plans, certificates, and skills reportsOffer a high level of customer service to create access and opportunity for community engagement with the Aquatics ProgramWork with Program Director to expand Aquatics offerings Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years oldAbility to work with people from various culturesDemonstrate excellent customer service and problem solving skills while dealing tactfully and courteously with the publicAble to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely mannerEffective verbal and written communicationRed Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First-Aid Certificates within two months of hireLGI certification preferred Physical Demands and Working EnvironmentWork is performed in a standard pool environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes, swim equipment or heavier materials with help from others, and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently.
