General Statement of JobThe Dean for Dual Credit Programs Initiatives provides the leadership for pre-college programs and initiatives including dual credit courses, Early College High Schools and Dual Credit Partnerships, Academies and High School Projects and Programs, and other programs as may be developed. Collaborates with K-12 educational leaders to identify and address critical opportunities for school district partnerships and develops programs and initiatives to address those needs. Maintains appropriate lines of communication with all school district stakeholders including superintendents, administrators, deans of instruction, principals and counselors.
Promotes college-readiness programs such as Summer Bridge, TexPREP, and Recovery programs. Assesses the quality and effectiveness of programs and initiatives and formulates plans for continued improvement, while ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements. Participates and contributes to institutional-wide planning in support of the mission and goals of the College. Represents South Texas College on local, regional, state, national taskforces and committees.
Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:- Oversees the Dual Credit Programs staff (Early College High Schools and Dual Credit Partnerships, Academies and High School Projects and Programs, and Dual Credit Program Instructional Pathways).
- Collaborates with K-12 educational leaders to identify and address critical needs of the school districts partners and develops programs and initiatives to address those needs.
- Provides oversight and leadership for the growth and quality of the pre-college programs such as Dual Credit Programs, Projects, and Initiatives.
- Leads and monitors the success of all Dual Credit Programs including the dual credit course offerings, Early College High Schools and Dual Credit Partnerships, Academies and High School Projects and Programs.
- Develops and promotes all student college-readiness programs such as Summer Bridge, TexPREP, and Recovery programs.
- Assesses the quality and effectiveness of all dual credit programs and formulates plans for continued improvement.
- Provides leadership in assessing the instructional needs of the school districts in the College's service area, and maintains appropriate lines of communication with key school district stakeholders including the district's superintendents, administrators, deans of instruction, principals, and counselors.
- Identifies, develops, implements and articulates initiatives which provide a clear high school to college pathway for students, parents, families and support members, working with appropriate school district personnel, community agencies, and college constituencies.
- Supports college enrollment goals by developing and coordinating K-12 and community initiatives that connect students to higher education and South Texas College in particular, working with others on campus to increase market penetration in local high schools and advance efforts to increase equity for students from traditionally under-represented populations.
