    Divinity Staffing Services is seeking a Nursing Shift Supervisor to join a compassionate and dedicated skilled nursing/long-term care facility in Delaware. The facility’s goal is to provide exceptional rehabilitation, skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care services with dignity and respect, in partnership with the residents and families.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing – BSN preferred. Must have a
    current, valid RN license in Delaware or hold compact state license
    2. Must attend and participate in continuing education programs designed to keep
    abreast of changes in nursing practice as well as to maintain current licensure.
    3. Must be able to communicate effectively in the English language verbally and in
    writing.
    4. Must possess current, comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
    Must demonstrate excellent clinical skills and judgment, including
    comprehensive nursing assessments; safe medication administration,
    intravenous therapy, enteral feedings, and treatments per infection control
    standards; and transcribing and implementing physicians orders accurately.
    5. Must have two years nursing experience including one year of acute care
    experience. Must have knowledge of Federal and State regulations, laws and
    guidelines related to skilled nursing.
    6. Must possess leadership and supervisory skills and the ability to work
    collaboratively with professional and nonprofessional personnel.
    7. Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the
    programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for
    providing quality care.
    8. Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such
    action.
    9. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family
    members, visitors, regulatory agencies and the general public.
    7. Must be compassionate and understanding of the needs of the elderly and
    disabled.
    8. Must support and promote the core vision, mission and values of The Milton and
    Hattie Kutz Home.
    9. Must comply with HIPPA regulations related to confidentiality of all resident
    care information.
    10. Must possess computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Assists the Unit Managers in carrying out the day to day functions of the
    nursing department in accordance with current rules, regulations and
    policies that govern the facility.
    2. Communicates effectively with other shifts to ensure continuity of care;
    receives and gives report from off-going and on-coming supervisory
    nurses.
    3. Completes written/oral reports for the Director of Nursing concerning the
    operation of his/her shift.
    4. Makes frequent rounds on all units to ensure that all nursing personnel are
    performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing
    standards.
    5. Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees.
    6. Ensures all established policies and procedures, including dress code and
    wearing name tags, are followed by all nursing personnel.
    7. Makes recommendations to the Director of Nursing regarding equipment
    and supply needs of the department.
    8. Participates in the development of a written plan of care for each resident
    that identifies the problems/goals and interventions to be accomplished.
    9. Reviews complaints/concerns expressed by residents or families and
    initiates written grievance report. Documents actions taken to resolve the
    complaint at the Unit level, or refer to the Unit Manager, Director of
    Nursing or other Department Head for resolution.
    10. Attends all Nursing Department staff meetings.
    11. Identifies problems and guides personnel to their solution.
    12. Participates in regulatory agency inspections.
    13. Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
    14. Assists the Staff Development Coordinator with the orientation of new
    personnel.
    15. Completes evaluations on assigned personnel

    16. Serves as a liaison between all three shifts ensuring coordinated
    communication of residents’ plans of care and new policies and procedures.
    17. Assists nursing personnel in performing nursing care as necessary.
    18. Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports,
    evaluations, charting, etc.
    19. Keeps the Unit Managers and Director of Nursing informed on all changes
    in level of care of residents, needs and problems on the units.
    20. Participates in facility safety program.
    21. Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures.
    22. Represents the Director and Assistant Director of Nursing for the duration
    of his/her shift. As supervisor you are delegated the administrative authority,
    responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned
    duties.
    23. Ensures all staff are knowledgeable of the residents’ responsibilities and
    rights including the right to refuse treatment.
    24. Participates in the Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement
    Program.
    25.Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff,
    other departments, families and visitors.
    26. Reports and investigates all allegations of resident abuse and/or
    misappropriation of resident property.
    27. Communicates openly and cooperates with supervisors.
    28. Accepts responsibility for own actions and recognizes the affect of personal
    behavior on residents’ behavior.
    29. Maintains awareness of the posted work schedule.
    30. Reports for work daily as scheduled and is ready to start shift at
    designated time.
    31. Promptly notifies supervisor of absence at least 2 hours prior to start of the
    shift.
    32. Properly uses breaks and privileges and does not abuse them.
    33. Participates in in-services, nursing meetings and ongoing education.
    34. Regardless of all duties described above, the supervisor will be expected to
    automatically perform any and all duties professionally recognized as
    appropriate towards maximizing the care and comfort of all residents.
