Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Provide subject matter expertise, perform and oversee pre-transportation activities to ensure
the proper preparation of all hazardous material shipments for domestic transportation and all items for export
transportation. These activities include, but are not limited to, bill of lading preparation, truck load placarding,
hazardous labeling, export document preparation, and packaging.
Oversee all preparation of hazmat shipments and conduct physical inspections of all air
shipments and sign-off on appropriate documentation confirming completion of all inspections.
Audit special carrier/same day shipments to ensure waivers are completed appropriately to
ensure that a same day carrier does not airfreight hazardous material.
Audit export shipments to ensure documentation and packaging are within compliance.
Assist in the certification and training of DC staff in the annual general awareness and specialized
hazmat training requirements.
Run slotting audits on a daily basis to ensure that hazardous material is not stored outside the
ASR/ISR room.
Assist in the control and administration the hazardous disposal process.
Active member of Grainger's DC Spill Control Team.
Answer and resolve or assist in the resolution of all hazmat and export inquiries within the Distribution
Center.
Willing and able to fill in for other positions both inside and outside of ICQA including Inbound Check in and
put away and Outbound picking and packing depending on shift coverage needs.
Compensation: The compensation range for this positon is between $25.43 - $31.78/hr.
Shift: M-F 9:30 am to 6:00 pm
You Have
Must be at least 18 years old
High School diploma or equivalent
Trained in the proper shipping of export and hazardous materials, including but not limited to, packaging,
loading,
unloading, storage, spill response and preparing shipping documentation (Bills of
Lading).
Knowledgeable of Grainger's Hazardous Materials Policy.
Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to negotiate, persuade, and motivate others to participate
successfully within the process.
Provide signature acknowledgement of Grainger's Hazardous Materials Policy to confirm understanding and
level of responsibility as outlined in the policy.
Systems and personal computer literacy sufficient to leverage technology to assist in problem identification
and resolution.
Quality assurance coordinator experience (similar) or above.
