    The Learning Experience of Astoria is looking for an energetic, nurturing, and dependable Assistant Twos Teacher to join our team.

    Our Twos classroom is an exciting place to be! At this age, children are building their vocabulary, learning how to express their emotions, developing friendships, gaining independence, and discovering more about the world around them every single day.

    We are looking for an educator who is excited to work alongside our Lead Teacher to create a warm, engaging, structured, and fun classroom where our two-year-olds can learn, explore, build confidence, and thrive.

    What You'll Do

    As our Assistant Twos Teacher, you will work closely with the Lead Teacher to provide a nurturing and engaging classroom experience. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Helping create a warm, welcoming, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn

    • Assisting with hands-on, play-based, developmentally appropriate learning experiences

    • Supporting children's growth across all developmental areas, including social-emotional, language, cognitive, physical, and creative development

    • Encouraging growing independence through self-help skills, classroom responsibilities, mealtime routines, toileting/potty learning, handwashing, and other daily routines

    • Helping children develop important social-emotional skills such as sharing, taking turns, communicating their needs, identifying emotions, and building friendships

    • Supporting classroom routines, transitions, meals, rest time, outdoor play, and daily care needs

    • Engaging with children throughout the day through conversations, stories, music, sensory play, art, movement, and meaningful interactions

    • Building positive and professional relationships with children and families

    • Working closely with the Lead Teacher and school leadership to maintain consistency within the classroom

    • Helping maintain a safe, clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment

    • Bringing patience, positivity, dependability, and enthusiasm to the classroom each day

    What We're Looking For

    Required:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a licensed daycare, preschool, or childcare center

    • Experience working with toddlers or two-year-olds

    • Strong communication and teamwork skills

    • Ability to take direction while also showing initiative within the classroom

    • Dependability, patience, organization, and a positive attitude

    • Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and applicable state compliance requirements

    • A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development

    Preferred:

    • Previous experience specifically in a Toddler or Twos classroom

    • Coursework, CDA, or additional education in Early Childhood Education

    • Familiarity with developmentally appropriate early childhood curriculum and classroom routines

    • Experience supporting children through potty learning and increasing independence

    Compensation

    $16.50–$18.00 per hour

    Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's education, qualifications, credentials, and relevant early childhood experience.
