Position Overview
This position provides direct support and care to individuals participating in our Behavioral Day Program. The staff member will assist with activities of daily living, implement individualized programs, and contribute to a positive, structured, and supportive program environment.
Experience supporting individuals with behavioral challenges, developmental disabilities, or other related support needs is preferred. We value candidates who are patient, dependable, and comfortable responding appropriately to a variety of behaviors and situations.
The staff member will work closely with the Program Manager and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure the program is effective and meets the individual needs of each participant.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and support personal care, hygiene, and dressing skills.
- Teach essential independent living and daily living skills.
- Implement individualized programs and support strategies.
- Document activities, behaviors, and observations and provide updates to the program team.
- Maintain a safe, clean, structured, and supportive environment within the program.
- Provide positive support and redirection when individuals experience behavioral challenges.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work collaboratively with program staff, supervisors, and other team members.
- Report concerns, changes in behavior, or incidents to the Program Supervisor or appropriate personnel.
- Maintain open and professional communication with families and guardians.
- Participate in team meetings and other program-related activities as needed.
Other Duties
- Transport clients to and from program activities.
- Participate in staff training and professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges, developmental disabilities, or related support needs is preferred.
- Experience providing direct care, behavioral support, caregiving, or working in a similar setting is highly valued.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Patient and professional approach when supporting individuals with behavioral challenges.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
- Basic knowledge of behavior support and behavior modification principles.
- Basic computer/technical skills required.
