Databricks Platform Engineer

Location: Remote

Position Overview

MKS2 is seeking a Databricks Platform Engineer to support the TALON Program under Accenture Federal Services (AFS). This role will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise Databricks environments that support mission-critical federal data initiatives. The engineer will focus on platform provisioning, automation, monitoring, security, performance optimization, and enabling data teams to effectively leverage the Databricks Lakehouse platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Databricks environments across development, test, and production.
  • Configure and optimize Databricks workspaces, clusters, and job orchestration.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
  • Develop automation for platform provisioning, monitoring, scaling, and maintenance.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines for Databricks notebooks, workflows, and deployments.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, security, and cost optimization.
  • Implement RBAC, encryption, audit logging, and governance controls.
  • Troubleshoot platform issues, cluster performance concerns, and workload failures.
  • Support integration with cloud services, data warehouses, and streaming platforms.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and cloud infrastructure teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or IT operations.
  • 2+ years of hands-on Databricks administration experience.
  • Strong expertise with:
    • Databricks Workspace Administration
    • Apache Spark
    • Python, Bash, or PowerShell
    • Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM)
  • Experience supporting Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, or other secure cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking, security, and platform monitoring.
  • Experience implementing RBAC, encryption, audit logging, and security controls.
  • Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks including FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-53.
  • Strong troubleshooting and platform support experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Databricks Certified Associate or Platform Administrator certification.
  • Experience with Unity Catalog administration and data governance.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD automation and DevOps best practices.
  • Experience with Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Azure Event Hubs, or other streaming technologies.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or enterprise data warehouse platforms.
  • Experience optimizing Databricks clusters for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Federal cloud certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate or AWS Solutions Architect.
  • Prior experience supporting federal agencies and Public Trust environments.

Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance or higher.
