    Description

    Data Architect

    Job Summary

The Data Architect owns the shape of the data itself. This role defines how data is modeled, standardized, related, and served across domains so that downstream analytics, reporting, and AI use cases are built on something consistent. The Data Architect works closely with the platform team but is focused on the logical and semantic layers rather than infrastructure.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models across enterprise domains

    • Define canonical entities, keys, and relationships, and resolve conflicts between source systems

    • Establish modeling standards for bronze, silver, and gold layers and enforce them in design review

    • Build and maintain the semantic layer that business intelligence and self service consumers rely on

    • Partner with data governance to define ownership, lineage expectations, and data quality thresholds

    • Document data dictionaries, mappings, and transformation logic so the model is understandable without a walkthrough

    • Review pipeline designs for model fidelity, historization, and change data handling

    Required Skills

    • 7+ years in data modeling, data architecture, or analytics engineering

    • Strong command of dimensional modeling, Data Vault, or third normal form, and clear judgment on when each applies

    • Advanced SQL and hands on experience with Delta Lake table design

    • Experience with slowly changing dimensions, change data capture, and historization strategies

    • Working knowledge of data quality frameworks and testing approaches

    • Ability to run requirements sessions with business stakeholders and translate the outcome into a model

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience modeling within Unity Catalog and using Databricks SQL for the serving layer

    • Familiarity with dbt or an equivalent transformation framework

    • Industry data model experience such as FHIR, ACORD, FIBO, or a retail or manufacturing standard

    • Exposure to master data management and reference data programs
