We're seeking a skilled Database Engineer to join our client's team, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining databases that drive business growth and innovation. As a Database Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in automating database workflows, ensuring seamless integration with other systems, and driving data-driven decision-making.

Overview

Hybrid schedule in Downtown Pittsburgh, PA
Initial 6-month contract

In this key position, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and implementing database automation workflows using tools like Ansible
• Developing and maintaining scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell to automate database tasks
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate databases with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools
• Staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to optimize database performance and efficiency

Required Skills

• General knowledge of Ansible and automation tools
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, and PowerShell
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana
• Infrastructure-as-Code mindset with experience in tools like Ansible or Terraform (not required, but a plus)
• Database automation workflows experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with Python programming language
• Knowledge of Kubernetes engineering (not required, but a plus)

Preferred Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in database automation engineering or related field

Other Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
