Akkodis is seeking a Database Administrator for a Contract job with a client in San Francisco, CA. The ideal candidate must have strong experience in PostgreSQL, Google Cloud SQL, and Google BigQuery, along with a proven background supporting enterprise database environments and cloud-based data platforms.
Rate Range: $60/hour to $63/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Database Engineer job responsibilities include:
Manage, support, and optimize enterprise database environments utilizing PostgreSQL, Google Cloud SQL, and Google BigQuery.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex database incidents, production issues, and performance challenges.
Create, review, and implement Requests for Change (RFCs) while ensuring compliance with enterprise change management processes.
Analyze system issues and provide recommendations to improve database reliability, availability, scalability, and performance.
Collaborate with service management teams, vendors, and technical stakeholders to support issue analysis and resolution efforts.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles to improve support effectiveness.
Lead initiatives focused on operational excellence, process improvements, and database best practices.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in database engineering, database administration, or cloud data platform support.
Expert proficiency with:
PostgreSQL
Google Cloud SQL
Google BigQuery
Experience supporting database performance tuning, optimization, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of database design, data management, backup and recovery strategies, and operational support processes.
Experience working within incident management, problem management, and production support environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
Experience supporting AWS DynamoDB environments.
Knowledge of Google Dataproc and cloud-based data processing solutions.
Experience supporting enterprise cloud migration and data modernization initiatives.
Familiarity with DevOps, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native database architectures..

Pay Details: $60.00 to $63.00 per hour
