    Position – Database Administrator
    Location – Baltimore, MD
    Position type - Contract

    • Ensuring the availability, performance, security, and integrity of databases, including
    • Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB
    • Database Administration: Manage and administer the AWS-based databases,
    • including Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and
    • MongoDB, ensuring high availability and data integrity.
    • Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune the performance of databases to
    • maintain optimal efficiency and responsiveness, addressing performance bottlenecks
    • proactively.
    • Backup and Recovery: Implement and oversee database backup and recovery
    • strategies, ensuring data is protected and can be restored as needed.
    • Database Security: Implement and enforce security measures, access controls, and
    • encryption protocols to protect sensitive data stored in the databases.
    • Database Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute database upgrades and patching,
    • staying current with the latest releases and security fixes.
    • Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for the databases,
    • including failover and replication mechanisms.
    • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve database-related issues,
    • working closely with development teams and other stakeholders to troubleshoot and
    • resolve problems.
    • Data Migration: Assist with database migration efforts, ensuring smooth data transfer
    • and minimal downtime during migrations.
    • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations,
    • procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
    • Automation: Identify opportunities for automation in database administration tasks
    • and develop scripts or tools to streamline repetitive processes.
    • Cloud Best Practices: Stay informed about AWS cloud best practices and
    • recommendations, implementing these practices in database management.
    • Compliance and Auditing: Ensure that databases adhere to regulatory compliance
    • standards and participate in audits as needed.

    Education Qualification
    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer
    • Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or
    • technical discipline.

    General Experience
    • At least ten (10) years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator, managing
    • diverse databases in an AWS cloud environment.
    • Expertise in administering Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL
    • Server, and MongoDB databases.
    • Strong understanding of database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and
    • security best practices.
    • Familiarity with AWS cloud services, IAM roles, and security groups for database
    • administration.
    • Experience with database migration tools and techniques.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address database-related
    • issues.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with
    • cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Certified
    • Solutions Architect, are advantageous.
