4. Scope of Services |
The Data Warehouse Analyst / Report Builder
will develop and optimize Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and
analytical reports integrated with Snowflake. Services include creating
advanced DAX calculations, writing and tuning complex SQL queries, and
ensuring Snowflake datasets are modeled and structured for reliable Power BI
consumption. The resource will work with data engineers to support
dimensional modeling, maintain metadata and data lineage documentation, and
ensure accurate, high-performance reporting. The Analyst will collaborate
with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable reports,
troubleshoot performance issues across Power BI and Snowflake, and operate
effectively in a dynamic environment with minimal oversight. |
5. Education |
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or
other related fields. Or equivalent work experience. Equivalent work
experience may substitute for the educational requirement. |
6. Experience |
1. Required minimum of 5 years of IT work
experience in business intelligence tools and systems. 2. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on
experience developing enterprise-level analytical reports, dashboards, and data models using Microsoft Power BI, including
advanced report design, paginated reports, performance tuning, and DAX. 3. Advanced SQL query writing includes CTEs,
window functions, and analytical queries with optimization. 4. Strong understanding of star schema design
and fact/dimension modeling. 5. Proficient in Snowflake tuning, clustering
keys, compute optimization, and cost control. 6. Familiarity with Snowflake RBAC, roles,
warehouse sizing, and data governance. 7. Proficient in building Power BI semantic
models with strong DAX and clean dimensional design. 8. Experience in integrating Power BI with
Snowflake and connection modes. 9. Proficiency in Power BI Report Builder,
workspace management, and performance optimization. 10. Experience with metadata management, data lineage, and
documentation. 11. Experience embedding Power BI reports into web or internal
applications. 12.
Knowledge of CI/CD for Power BI and version control is a plus. |
7. Primary Job Duties/ Tasks |
The activities the candidates will be tasked with include, but
are not limited to, the following: 1. Design and develop Power BI dataflows and semantic models using dimensional
modeling practices. 2. Build advanced DAX measures and analytical logic to support enterprise-grade
end-user reporting. 3. Create user-friendly,
high-performance Power BI reports and dashboards that meet defined business
requirements. 4. Write
and optimize complex SQL queries (CTEs, window functions, analytical
queries) to retrieve and prepare Snowflake data for reporting. 5. Collaborate with
Snowflake data engineering teams to ensure fact/dimension tables are
structured and optimized for Power BI consumption. 6. Integrate Power BI with Snowflake using appropriate connection modes, ensuring
performance, query folding, and data reliability. 7. Document data lineage, metadata, and report specifications to support
maintainability, governance, and transparency across analytics assets. |
8. Job Specific Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) |
The submitted candidates must be able to apply specific
knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of dimensional modeling and star schema design for semantic model
development. 2. Knowledge of advanced Power BI capabilities including DAX, data modeling, and Power
Query. 3. Knowledge of Snowflake performance tuning, compute optimization, and RBAC security
concepts. 4. Skill in building optimized, scalable Power BI semantic models using strong
dimensional design. 5. Skill in writing advanced SQL queries and tuning Snowflake datasets for Power
