In this role, you will define what constitutes a data product, establish governance structures, and design scalable workflows that empower teams to ingest, publish, and manage data assets with confidence. You will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of accountability, stewardship, and continuous improvement across the data platform.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop a practical and actionable definition of a "data product" tailored to the organizations needs and context

    • Design and implement a transparent ownership model, assigning clear responsibilities and accountability for each data product

    • Set minimum documentation requirements and quality benchmarks that must be met for every data product, ensuring consistency and reliability across the platform

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine definitions and expectations, integrating feedback to optimize the model

    • Document step-by-step procedures for ingesting data, creating new data products, and publishing them securely within the platform

    • Design simple, repeatable workflows that can be easily followed by users across different teams, reducing friction and promoting best practices

    • Provide guidance on safe and compliant data handling, emphasizing ease of use while maintaining data integrity

    • Facilitate training sessions or workshops to onboard users to these processes

    • Establish a centralized documentation strategy and enforce standards for data product descriptions, ownership attribution, and business context, creating a single source of truth for platform procedures and governance details

    • Implement discoverability mechanisms (e.g., searchable catalogs, metadata tagging) and develop minimal validation requirements to help users find relevant data products while ensuring essential quality and compliance checks

    • Establish baseline access control principles and define pragmatic, scalable approaches to data quality management and stewardship, safeguarding data while enabling broad, responsible usage

    • Design a lightweight governance cadence, such as regular check-ins or reviews, integrating governance activities with platform usage metrics and developing mechanisms for feedback and iteration as the platform matures
