Location: Princeton Pike, NJ (50% onsite)
Duration: Contract - 6 months
Pay Range: $70/hr $80/hr (W2)
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Job Description

We are seeking a Data Manager/Data Solutions Engineer to join our team within Commercialization Business Insights & Technology (CBI&T). The role serves as the US Data Lead for Databricks-based data assets and products, translating business requirements from Commercialization AI Strategy & Analytics (CASA) into designed, built, tested, and released data products on Databricks. The role collaborates with US data team members, commercialization BI&T stakeholders, offshore engineers, and systems integrators.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end data delivery including design, build, UAT, and releases.
  • Partner with CASA data owners, domain leads, and SMEs to translate scope into technical designs, including critical data elements, business rules, metric definitions, grain, aggregation logic, and acceptance criteria.
  • Produce design artifacts such as source-to-target mappings, analytical requirement documents, and Bronze, Silver, and Gold logical data models.
  • Execute technical build and data modeling using Databricks tools, including PySpark, Spark SQL, and Delta Lake.
  • Apply platform standards for Unity Catalog, table design and clustering, performance tuning, data quality controls, and CI/CD through Git.
  • Lead data product modeling aligned to medallion architecture.
  • Manage an offshore engineering pod in Hyderabad, including backlog grooming, task assignment, design review, and code review.
  • Provide technical direction to systems integrators and consulting partners, ensuring adherence to standards and scope.
  • Review vendor deliverables against statements of work and identify gaps early.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 6 to 10+ years of data engineering experience.
  • Hands-on Databricks experience, including PySpark, Spark SQL, and Delta Lake.
  • Strong data product ownership and data modeling capabilities with direct stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with medallion architecture and clear rationale for layer-specific logic.
  • Unity Catalog expertise in catalogs, schemas, access control, and data classification.
  • Proven leadership of distributed and offshore teams with measurable quality outcomes.
  • Advanced SQL and Python skills with a Git-based development workflow and CI/CD practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to operate independently with business stakeholders.
  • Self-directed with the ability to turn ambiguous requests into released data products.

Preferred Skills:

  • Pharmaceutical or life sciences commercial data experience with sources such as IQVIA, Symphony Health, Komodo, Flatiron, specialty pharmacy and distributor data, Veeva CRM, and marketing or digital engagement platforms.
  • Understanding of commercial analytics use cases, including field force performance, customer analytics, patient journey, and line of therapy.
  • Familiarity with data governance, including ownership, stewardship, critical data elements, and data quality frameworks.
  • Experience working in regulated environments with audit, privacy, and access-control requirements.
