Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist at Ford, you will serve as a domain expert in at least one core data science discipline (e.g., NLP, Generative AI, Computer Vision, forecasting, or prognostics), applying deep hands-on expertise to tackle challenging business problems where standard methods fall short. You''ll design and deliver production-grade solutions, lead methodology and tooling decisions, and partner closely with business stakeholders to translate complex data insights into strategic direction.

You will interact directly with manufacturing personnel to identify data sources and understand key process details, performing data exploration to formulate hypotheses and developing models that deliver actionable insights back to the manufacturing floor. You''ll collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Software Engineers to design and develop applications consistent with standard development methods and milestones, and support the deployment of these applications within the manufacturing process through rigorous model verification and hands-on training of end users. Once deployed, you''ll continue to support these applications by resolving issues that arise during use and enhancing them based on ongoing user feedback.

Beyond individual technical excellence, you''ll mentor and oversee the work of junior and mid-level data scientists, champion best practices across the team, and help shape Ford''s broader data-driven culture and roadmap.

• Bachelor''s or foreign equivalent degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, auto engineering or a related field
• Master''s or foreign equivalent degree in analytics, data science or statistics
• 2 years'' experience in application of Generative AI, Computer Vision, forecasting, or prognostics/prediction
• 2 years of experience in software development using Python & SQL
• 1 year of experience developing dashboards using commercial products such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik
• Experience with advanced cloud platforms for scalable, production-ready ML operationalization preferred

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $85,400-$192,900.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate''s skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
