Data Product Manager

The Data Product Manager will bridge the gap between complex campus data and actionable operational solutions. In this role, the incumbent will work closely with campus stakeholders and end-users to uncover high-impact challenges and envision modern data products to solve them. Information Technology Solution's (ITS) data portfolio spans reporting, advanced analytics, self-service data access platforms, machine learning, and artificial intelligence initiatives. The Data Product Manager will champion the end-to-end lifecycle of ITS data products\u2014taking solutions from initial scoping and rapid wireframing to agile development, launch, and long-term maintenance. This position will be hands-on in creating mockups and prototypes to co-create solutions alongside users, while also authoring clear user stories for development teams. Beyond product vision, the incumbent will oversee day-to-day operations for campus data governance. This position is classified as predominantly remote with occasional visits to campus as needed. Working hours will be based on Pacific Standard Time (PST). The full salary range for the Product Manager is $93,200 - $174,200 annually. However, the pay scale for this position is up to $130,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, UCR is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. Works at the highest technical level of various phases of systems analysis. Considers the business implications of applying technology to the current and future business environment.Initiates, designs or modifies highly complex systems and procedures where standardized policies or procedures may or may not exist. Creates highly technical specifications for systems with broad impact at a campus/medical center/OP or within a large organization. Develops unit integration and acceptance testing plans and scenarios. May lead cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues.Initiates, facilitates, implements and documents work process changes. Prepares and approves or obtains approval for business process and procedural documentation. Initiates and oversees changes in processes and procedures. Sets the technical requirements for complex specifications.Performs highly complex analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements and translation into proper system and process requirement specifications. Provides advanced support and training on new applications. Mentors experienced Business Systems Analysts and may lead a team of business analyst professionals.Act as Scrum Master for 1-2 scrum product teams based on evolving team needs. Facilitate agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives. Help clear blockers for the development team, optimize sprint velocity, and foster a collaborative, iterative delivery environment.\n \nAdvanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions.Advanced knowledge of related areas of IT.Knowledge relating to the design of processes and software across the organization.Advanced skills and methodologies associated with process and software design, modification and implementation.Demonstrated skills needed to develop process and system implementation plans.Demonstrated experience with process analysis, systems analysis, process architectures and systems analysis methodologies and practices including traditional waterfall, Agile, Agile Scrum, UML, UML Enterprise, et cetera.Understanding and skill in complex process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.
