We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to join our Youth-Focused Research, Evaluation, and Surveillance Team as a Data Research Assistant. The successful candidate will assist in processing and analyzing public health data, ensuring high-quality data management, preparation of data collection tools and assisting with administrative tasks. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the public health field in data management, data analysis and data communication while working closely with experienced researchers and public health professionals.
Pay range $13.98 - $19.43
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Cleaning & Preparation: Assist in preprocessing large datasets by identifying, correcting, or removing errors and inconsistencies. Ensure that data is formatted correctly and ready for analysis.
- Data Entry & Organization: Input and organize data from multiple sources into databases or analysis tools.
- Data Tools Creation: Create instruments for data collection tools using platforms such as RedCap & Qualtrics used to survey program participants.
- Data Validation: Perform routine checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of the data.
- Statistical Analysis Assistance: Support the team in performing basic statistical analysis using software such as SPSS, SAS, R, or Excel.
- Reporting & Documentation: Help prepare reports, data briefs and infographics summarizing data analysis findings.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the research team to assist with other data processing and administrative tasks as needed, including the preparation of datasets for publication or presentation.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a relevant graduate program (Public Health, Data Science, Epidemiology, Statistics, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with data analysis tools like R, SAS or SPSS (a plus).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet consistent attendance.
- A strong interest in public health research and data science.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience with data cleaning and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of data collection platforms such as REDCap & Qualtrics
- Knowledge of basic public health concepts and public health data.
- Familiarity with graphic design programs and/ or database management systems.
